Lorenzo Alexander (July, 2010)

Lorenzo Alexander, born May 31st, 1983, is a standout linebacker/defensive tackle for the Washington Redskins. Since going undrafted in the 2005 NFL draft, Lorenzo has worked his way to becoming an important part of the Redskin defense. But like the other players featured on our site, we're here to celebrate the wonderful things he is doing off the field. From Oakland, CA to Washington DC, Lorenzo is leaving his mark on more than just the game of football.

In January of 2008, Lorenzo founded the Lorenzo Alexander Aces Foundation. The foundation's mission is to support youth through emphasizing self accountability, taking pride in the community, and striving for educational excellence while promoting a healthy mind and body through sports. ACES (Accountability, Community, Education, Sports) embodies the spirit of Sporting Generosity, and when first told that SG will be sharing his achievements, the following is what Lorenzon Alexander had to say: "I am extremely humble in you wanting to honor the work ACES does in the community. I am only one man part of a movement much bigger than me."

Most of the foundation's operating acitivites take place in Oakland, CA. The ACES's Foundation offers the following year-round classes and workshops for under-priveledged children: "Hold the Line" youth camps, "Big Play" back to school giveways, "SAT Preparation" and college bound life skill classes, and "Accountability Workshops" for tutoring support.

Completely funded by ACES's, the goals of these programs are to inspire all youth to obtain a higher education, pursue a meaningful career, maintain a strong family unit, and then give back to their community.

On Sunday, July 18, 2010 Lorenzo and his teammate Kedric Golston will host Ride to Provide, a charity bike event to take place in Northern Virginia. The primary goal of Ride to Provide is to raise awareness and money to support the yourth programs of the ACES foundation as well as to to provide support for the many orphaned babies and poverty stricken women and children in parts of Africa by providing safe homes, loving environments and access to education.

The Babac'Ards Foundation, founded by Boris Diaw of the Charlotte Bobcats, has a mission of improving the lives of Senegalese children. They are currently fundraising to open a women's training facility. Please click here for more information.

Every day, hundreds of athletes and organizations are showing a tremendous amount of generosity to their community. Here at SG, we can’t possibly know about everything taking place. Please, if you are or know of a professional athlete or organization that has used sport to make our world a better place, please click here to share your or their story.

Sporting Generosity would like to recognize Anquan Boldin, all-pro wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens for his outstanding achievements. Click here for more details.
