Art Monk
Art Monk, born December 5, 1957, is more than a wide receiver for the Washington Redskins. He’s a husband, a father of three, and co-founder of the Good Samaritan Foundation. Although Art’s on the field accomplishments have most recently reached its pinnacle with his induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, his achievements off the field continue to inspire him. Art has truly touched the lives of thousands, and for that he’s being name Sporting Generosity’s first ever Player of the Month,
As a co-founder of the Good Samaritan Foundation, Art helped set the wheels in motion to dramatically change the lives of many of Washington DC’s inner-city youth. The foundation’s mission is to help prepare youth for leadership in the community and the workplace. Today, the foundation annually serves more than fifty underprivileged high school students with the training and environment needed to help these students realize their potential.
Commencing with his playing career and continuing through today, Art has maintained a significant presence in the Washington DC metro area. In addition to the Good Samaritan Foundation, Art has instructed over 14,000 students on football and other life activities through his annual football camps.
The Babac'Ards Foundation, founded by Boris Diaw of the Charlotte Bobcats, has a mission of improving the lives of Senegalese children. They are currently fundraising to open a women's training facility. Please click here for more information.
